Hello, this is my guide for CS:S about awping. I really hope this helps some people out. Thanks for reading and leave a comment for me. =)


1. The AWP

The AWP, love it or hate it, you need to learn it. If you can't awp, don't think about doing any leagues, that means CAL and other things. Here are some facts about the AWP.

The AWP is very expensive, make sure you take this into account.

A body shot with the AWP is a instant kill, this makes alot of people think that the AWP is a "Noob Gun". Don't listen to these people, AWP is a main part of CS:S, they need to learn how to play.

Make sure you buy a sidearm. I perfer the deagle and will be assuming you use the deagle as your sidearm. Deagle tactics will be covered later.

You CAN no scope with the AWP. Its a hard thing to master, but it is a good tactic, I will cover no scoping in a later section.

2. AWP tactics

Ok, in this section of my guide to the AWP, I'll be covering how to AWP, as in strafe stoping, no scoping,
and snap shots.

Strafe Stoping
I want you to do something real quick, get on CS:S, and strafe left. You notice that when you take your finger off the key, you still "slide" to the left. Same for strafing right. Now, you might not see the big deal, but this can and will kill you while doing a "creep" shot or just peeking. I will teach you a great way to pratice these techniques later. But, get on a server and find a corner. Scope in. Now, strafe out from behind the corner and shoot right when you take your finger off the A or D key. You notice that your shot misses... by alot. Now, do the same thing. But, when you take your finger off the A or D key, push the other key. So, strafing left, push D and vice-versa for right. You should stop dead in your tracks. Now, try
the same thing, but shooting RIGHT after you push the other key. You should stop and shoot. Try doing
this a few times, and you'll get better. Try my method of pratice later on.

The Creep
Now, this may sound like a weird shot, but its something you've probably already done before. Go to a corner and scope. Now, slowly walk around the corner with your scope looking to the other side of the corner. This is great with my stoping tactic. You see someone while creeping, use the stop trick and shoot. If you get fast enough with stoping, you can be super fast at doing this. Practice this alot.

The Peek
This is pretty much strafe stoping. What you do is "peek" out of a corner by strafing. If theres nobody there, you go back to the safety of your corner, if theres someone around the corner, use the stop trick and blow them away. Good tactic.

No Scope.
This is shooting and hitting someone while using no scope to aim. This can only be done in what I call "shotty" range. If you are close enough to shot someone with the pump shotty and kill them in one shot, you can probably no scope them. Do NOT count on no scoping your foes. You will miss about 70% of your no scope. But, practice this, it can save your ass.

3. The Deagle

Ahh, yes. The deagle. One of my favorites guns. This gun packs quit a freaking punch. A head shot with
this gun is a instant kill, regardless of kevlar and a helmet. It takes about 3-4 shots to kill someone with this gun. The only downside is 1. The small clip. This only has 7 shots. Not alot when it takes 3 shots to kill someone. But, take into account the instant kill headshot. Practice pulling head shots with this gun, you'll be using it alot. Another thing is that the deagle is not very accurate. Dont every try and kill someone with the deagle if there not in "close" quarters. Besides, you should be using the awp to kill people far away.

4. How to Practice these tactics.

Ok, this is what you do. Make your own server. Make sure all of the bots join one team, not random. Also, put about 22 bots in the server. Now, before you join whatever team the bots arent joining, open up the console and type these things:

mp_limitteams 100
mp_autoteambalance 0
sv_cheats 1
bot_dont_shoot 1
bot_zombie 1

This makes it so the server wont auto balance the teams, it wont limit the teams and the bots wont shoot you and stand still. Now, buy a awp and run to there teams spawn. Now, practice no scoping, strafe stoping and creeping. Do this for a hour of a day and your speed will spike. Trust me, it works. See how fast you can strafe out, use the stop trick, "snap" (aim at a target really fast, like your snaping to them)
to them and fire. Then, strafe back. Just get fast and you will be able to own people in pubs.

5. Other tips

Granades

I buy 2 flashs and a smoke. I'm in a clan and HE (IMO) are useless for scrims. Smoke for covering your ass or faking them out. (Smoke long A and rush short) and use flashs when you rush a bomb site as T. Another thing for flashs is if your in a AWP off with someone, flashing them can turn the tables.

Make sure, make sure, MAKE SURE You buy kevlar and a helm. It will make you live so much longer. Oh, and if your CT, make sure for the love of god you buy a defuser kit. Just do it.
