My base metal!!!
Difficulty: Intermediate
Category: CS > SkinningAuthor(s): BAFTUB I am not shouting

Mkay. the first thing to do is create a new 1024x1024 document in CS3, Pick 2 grey colors. For this I chose #343434 and #707070.

Now filter>render>clouds. Now do filer>artistic>spone at the settings: 0,8,1. Now add 1% of guas mono noise to it.

Now do Filer>artistic>Palette knife at the settings: 50,3,0. Add 1% of guas mono again. Now layer your backround from backround. and duplicate layer.

now your fill with 100 normal color # 797979. set your top layer to about 91% fill. Now set the brightness of your top layer to -150 and contrast to 17.

now take a splatter brush or any brush from the wet and dry media brushes at moderate your dodge spots around the texture at make sure to set the exposure below 45% and add a small amount of thin scratches. And after that add another filter of guas mono noise at .50% AND YER DONE!

Detail: resulting texture is a bit bland. I'd say include some more sharpness and detail during the creation of the material.
Readability: Horrible. You know we use HTML here, so why didn't you write this in a step by step format? Also, it lacks pre-result screenshots for newbies who don't know what they are doing.
Usefulness: The best part about this tutorial is that it's nice to have more options for creating base materials. The main savior point of this tutorial is this, almost alone.

And you added more screens, still. Fix the original tutorial text, it's too crunched together.

I don't really understand how this is difficult to read. I mean it seems really easy to just look at it and learn how to do his technique.

He fixed it. You missed the action.

ah i see. My mistake then, sorry. :)

those noobies shouldnt read stuff out of their league, tut is intermediate

This tutorial is no where "out of league" for newbies. It's an easy process, all they need to know is where the tools are located.

You also aren't taking into consideration of the people who are above intermediate, who won't want to sit here and read this unorganized release.

I refused to read it due to it's lack of organization, and I don't believe anyone else will either for the same reason, aside from newbies desperate to learn something.

---

And you did that, much better. Changing original assessment.
well I try, and you fail me. i also added another example of the result.
