How To Make A Proper Surf Map .::Part 2::.
Difficulty: Intermediate
Category: CS > MappingAuthor(s): AceTrigger

Before reading this tutorial, you must be familiar with this tutorial.

Teleports

Teleports are very common in surf maps. There are at least 3 teleports in a surf map: one to teleport you to CT spawn, one to T spawn, and one to the top of spawn points. There are 3 entities which forms a successful teleport, but only 2 are needed. The entities needed are:

  • trigger_teleport
  • info_teleport_destination
  • info_target

trigger_teleport is the portal. When a brush is tied to that entity, it becomes invisible, so a brush representing the teleport will be needed. It's usually placed under the teleport. Open up the trigger_teleport properties box. In Target type in destination1 and in Name type in teleport 1. If there's a second teleport, then the destination will be destination2 and the name will be teleport2, and so on.
info_teleport_destination and info_target are the destinations of the teleport, so they're both the same. Put it anywhere on the map. Open up it's properties box and in Name type in destination1. If there is a second destination, then the name will be destination2, and so on. See picture 1.

Weapon Rooms

Players usually spawn with the worst weapons he/she (that's right, she) can get, so surf map are designed to have a weapons room where players can collect weapons. It usually is a destination point for teleports, and has a teleport to teleport out of the room.
Make a brush a little bigger than your spawn point. Add an entity called armoury_entity and place it in the room. Open up the properties box. In Item choose a weapon (there are no pistols). Don't worry about Count, just leave it alone. Now make more armoury_entitys and put them in the weapon room. Add a destination entity and a teleport. See picture 2

trigger_hurt

The trigger_hurt entity is used to kill a player if he/she falls off a ramp or any other places where they can stand. If the bottom of the map is very far from the ramps and other stuff, then you don't need a trigger_hurt entity because players will die from the worldspawn entity.
Make a brush that covers the entire bottom of you map. Give it the AAATRIGGER texture. Open up properties box and in Class type in trigger_hurt. click Damage and type in as many 9 as you want (at least four 9). In damage type choose a damage type. See picture 3.

Compiling

See this tutorial.

Conclusion

After all this hard work, you only get a basic surf map. If you want it to be popular, add other stuff (I don't know what other stuff). Well have fun!
*Oh yeah, don't forget to put a light in your map, or else it will become a fullbright map!*
