Messing with the layer channels Difficulty: Intermediate |
| Category: CS:S > Skinning | Author(s): Shadow Of Darkness |

Ok, Have you ever seen a texture you want, but cannot find a good picture of it to use for skinning? if so then um keep reading.
You would need photo shop and a close enough pic of the one you want. for my example i am going to use a flectarn fall side pattern.
the first thing you do is. open your pattern.
and now heres the tricky part, go to your channels. now this is where you decide what to keep and what to get rid of. For my tutorial and skinning use I disabled the "blue" channel and now my pattern is yellow, you do not have to just disable what I did you can do it in a specific order and make different colors. m You can also duplicate channels, but that would make it more confusing. after disabling the channels you want go to "Image" then "Mode". Make sure RGB color is NOT checked and either hit "lab color" or, Multichannel or CMYK color. now go back to your channels list. Depending on what mode you used it will have different things. I hit "Lab Color" and i have now 4 new channels: Lab Color, Lighness, A,B. you can duplicate any of these channels to get bigger variety of colors. For now I am going to disable A. now I have an exact looking Spring side for the camo I need.
This tut is a WiP, because i am still learning how to use CS3.
P.S- if you have any other info on this either PM me with it or leave a comment. thanks! |
