Creating Grenade Explosion Difficulty: Beginner |
| Category: CS > Sprites & GUIs | Author(s): Kfu, Lunacore |

Hello everyone, today i will explain you how to create an explosion using just photoshop. All you will need is Photoshop (i´m using CS2 9.0) and a basic experience in the using of it.
I won´t explain you how to put it in CS, but i will explain you how to prepare all.
Let´s start:
1º Step: create a new docummet about 256x256 px in RGB Color, then select the Paint Bucket, and make black our documment.
2º Step: ok, now select a red color (the most red), select then a brush about 50px and 0% of hardness and brush the layer (refer to Screenshot B).
3º Step: after that select a yellow, reduce the px of the brush about 35px, and brush the layer (refer to screenshot C). Remember not to brush the yellow in the black background.
4º Step: now select white, reduce the px of the brush about 20px and brush the layer (refer to Screenshot D). Remember not to brush in the black background nor the red brush.
Weird, doesn´t it? comming better:
5º Step: ok, now go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur, set ir about 30px and press OK (refer to Screenshot E).
6º Step: create a new layer (Shift + Ctrl + N), touch "D" to restart the colors to black and white, fill the new layer with black, and then go to Filter > Render > Clouds (refer to Screenshot F).
7º (and last but not least) Step: change the blending mode to Color Dodge and there is you explosion.
save your document in BMP.
But you want it to start the explode and finish, don´t you? ok, now is easier. Just select your explosion layer (the blured one), then go to Image > Adjustments > Levels and to start the explosion move the gray arrow all to the right and then you can move to left to keep the explosion in movement.
Save the files so you can make a sequence.
Hope you like it!
