Hello everyone. Welcome to my custom glass tutorial.

Programs that you will need.
1- Vtf http://www.fpsbanana.com/tools/97
2- Gcfscape http://www.fpsbanana.com/tools/26
3- The Gimp http://www.fpsbanana.com/tools/654
__________________________________________________
Open up Gcfscape and select a glass texture (make sure is's a .vtf file) then click and drag into a folder.
Open up that glass file that in the folder. Then click on "file" then on "export"
Select the folder you want the file to image file to be exported to. Then type ".png" at the end of your filename.
Open up gimp. Then locate and open up your file.
----> It is advised that you learn how to use gimp a little <----
Select a brush and a colour set "opacity" to less than 80, this will make it transparent so you can see through your glass. Cover up all the area with that brush and colour.
When you are done select "Save as" Then type your filename followed by ".png" select where you want to save it then click "save".
You will get a message. Don't worry this is a reminder - not a warning. Click "Ok".
You will get then another message, leave all these options alone and press "Ok".
Now goto Vtf and select "file" then "import". Select your edited image that you saved and press "ok". Wait a bit and it should bring up you glass. Now click on "Nice filter" (on the side menu) and check the box. Then goto "File" then "save as".
Save your file in the Counter-strike source material folder (don't have one? Make one!)
Which for me is "D:\Gaming and Entertainment\PC Games\Steam\SteamApps\mikeybabyyeah\counter-strike source\cstrike\materials.
Click "save". Then click on "Tools" then on "Create Vmt File".
On that box that has just opened click on the options tab.
From the drop down menu next to "Surface 1" select "Glass".
Then click "create".
Now you have a .vmf file which has the glass texture and the .vmt which contains the data about it.
You can now use it in your hammer maps.

Note - If you move the .Vmf or vmt (or both/or rename) you will have to create another .vmt file. |
