Removing the Blur from the CSS background!
Difficulty: Beginner
Category: CS:S > Sprites & GUIsAuthor(s): oxo24, valve

Hey all!

Lately i got bored of the blurry css background and wondered if i could salvage the pre-blur image. which i did! here's how!

Tools needed:

ToolsGCFscape

Step 1First of all, go into your steamapps directory. here you should see a folder named 'counter strike source shared.gcf' open this.

Step 2Once you are inside the GCF, navigate your self to 'cstrike\materials\console\'

Step 3Right click on the console folder, and then choose 'Extract' this will prompt you to choose a location to extract to (use desktop for simplicity) once extracted, open the folder. inside you will find 8 files. (Background01, Background01_widescreen, Intro and Intro_widescreen. and their VMT's

Step 4Now, The files named background01 are the default CSS backgrounds with blur. The files named 'intro' are the same images, but without the blur! these are what you want! so copy the 4 files with 'intro' in the name into 'C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\username\counter-strike source\cstrike\materials\console' create the folders if necessary.

Final step!you should now have a folder with 4 files in (i should have mentioned earlier, you should delete any files that are already in there) ok, now all you need to do is rename the 2 files named 'intro' to 'background01' and the 2 files named 'intro_widescreen' to 'background01_widescreen'

Thanks for reading! hope you found this usefull!
