Source Recorder Tutorial The Source recorder is the best tool for when you are recording in Source games. You'll need the console to use the source recorder. And with the new engine in The Orange Box you can save your recorded movie as .avi format. Getting Started Set up what you want to record, maybe you are on a server, open the console. Type; record name You can replace name with anything you want, it is not important. Do Your Thing Record what you want to, after you are done type.. stop ..in the console. Now you have only recorded the "Actions" of your movie. The Recording The following will make you disconnect from any server or game. Type the following to start the actual recording startmovie moviename avi Replace moviename with your desire. This will be name of the .avi movie. Now to play the "Actions" we just recorded, type; playdemo name Replace name with the text you putted in before. Now The Wait You have now disconnected from the game. Now the engine is recording you actions, notice that it is really laggy and no sound. This is normal. Now you just wait until it has finnished recording. Under this process do not press Esc or any other buttons, including Alt+Tab. Done! Now that the engine is done, your back to the main menu of the game. Now type this is the console. endmovie After loading a bit, your done! Exit the game and go to the game folder: Steam/steamapps/steamusername/team fortress 2/ The .avi movie is named the name you named it :P And there you have it! Your done :) Any misspelling please tell.

This is really cool, i think i messed up mt first record, cuz i 4got what u said, but i made an echo of this in the autoexec.cfg folder so ill never forget again! 10/10

Pros: Awesome and simple guide! Godlike! Improvements: Pictures and maby a videotutorial? Personaly I have no problems with no pictures but there is sombody that have!

Posted by -RemiX- Already done before. Search for the tutorial before you make it next time. And don't say that "This is for TF2, that is for CSS" because they both work the same exact way. Source Recorder This is for recording directly to .avi, and can only be done in the new engine

Quality-wise, it's much better to get a converter, but we're not forcing you to do anything. Chances are the movies will go to Youtube anyways, so the quality gets owned so most of the time it really doesn't matter.
