This tutorial will teach you guys how to : -

Improving FPS
in
Counter-Strike 1.6

You need to know what is
your FPS in game.

How?

While in Game

Press console window (above of your TAB button).
Then type in cl_showfps 1.
What happen?

It shows the level
of fps in-game.
And what is FPS?

FPS is short-formed of
"Frame-Per-Second"

But FPS in-game more
to the game performance.

If you got 100 or more, you do not need to improve
your performance because its perfect.

If you got 100 - 60, also, not actually need to
improve.

If you got 60 - 30, yeah, need to be attention.

If you got 30 - 0, you must be attention

What your first step?

i) Go to console
ii) Type in the command.

Type in all what I listed below

+ cl_shadows 0
+ fps_max 101
+ developer 1
+ sys_ticrate 1000
+ rate 25000
+ cl_rate 10000

This is basic console command. It should
boost a bit around +10 to +20.

Defragment

Defragment your hard drives.
The best way and easy and also
very good.

To Defragment,

For Windows XP

Go to Start Menu, Accessories, System Tools
and Defragment Disk.

For Windows Vista

Go to Start Menu, Accessories, System Tools
and also , Defragment Disk.

CheckDisk

This will fix some bad file and sector
might slowing down your system cause
lowering FPS in game

To do it

# Go to the hard drive that have Steam
installed in the hard drive
# Right-click on it
# Select Properties.
# Select "Tools" tab and go press "Check Now"
# Just select any of the selection.
# If you select all, the windows prompt you to
check disk while boot-up. More better, but slower.

Scan for viruses

Sometimes, virus on Counter-Strike file
may slow down and lowering the fps level.

I recommend for instant-scan, use AVG or Avast!
You may get it at here

Close Unused Service Process

This might be risky, please set System Restore Point
before doing this.

First, you may need to go
to "Run".

Windows XP

It is located at Start Menu, at below
area of the Start Menu, name "Run"

Windows Vista

It is located in

Type in "MSCONFIG" without quote.

Then after moments, a window appear

Select Services.
At the bottom, tick "Hide All Microsoft Services"
Now, you see some services that not include in
Windows appear. Click "Disable All".

You need restart the computer.
And amazingly, it boost a lot of FPS.
About +30 to +40.
