This tutorial will inform you on how to install skins for, Counter-Strike and Counter-Strike: Source.
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Preperation
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
First, go to either the skins, gfx, scripts, scripts, sounds or tool section above. You will see a list of games as well as models (These include weapons, players, etc). Now you must choose the right game for which you want to install skins on. For the purpose of this tutorial, let us choose Counter-Strike 1.6 shall we. Now, choose what you want to download. For this example let us choose the AK-47.
You will get a choice of mirrors. Not mirrors like glass mirrors but mirrors like in download links from another site.
download this skin (This skin was added, courtesy of MaFiA_do_OsAmA for adding this skin)
Now extract the files to a location that you can easily locate later (example: desktop).
Before we begin, go to:
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\chrisbitm\counter-strike\cstrike
You might or might not have the folders necessary for this skin. If you do not have these folders, then create these:
Sound
Modles
Sprites
Now that we have these folders created, Lets begin shall we.
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Where to add the files
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Look at the downloaded file (Screen Shot A)
You see p, v and w models. Also, look at the the Type column. You see a .mdl, Wave Sound, Spr, and a Text Document.
all the MDL files will go into the:
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\username\counter-strike\cstrike\models
Extract those files in this foldeer (As seen in Screen Shot B).
As for the Wave Sounds. Just exract those files into the Sound folder
(As seen in Screen Shot C).
For the SPR file, extract this into your sprite folder
(As seen in Screen Shot D).
Do not worry about the text document. It is not necessary for the skin installation, but if you want it, then just stick it into your cstrike folder.
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
You are done insatlling this skin. Go into the server and buy a CV-47 Rifle to view the skin.
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
A Seperate notation
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Since we are finished installing this skin. You might want to create other folders. If you choose to install other skins, this is considered...necessary.
Basically, all the model files will go into the model folder, with the exception of shield in the file name. In the models folder, create a shield folder. You should also create a Player folder too. Create the necessary folders (As seen in Screen Shot E).
Next, create a Player folder in the Sound directory.
(As seen in Screen Shot F).
