How To Surf
Difficulty: Beginner
Category: CS > Other/MiscAuthor(s): MLMS

So you want to know how to surf in Counter Strike, right? Well it is relatively easy to do. There are only a few different things that are involved in surfing in CS.

The first thing that you need to do when surfing is to have airaccelerate to 100. If you don’t have airaccelerate to 100 then you just can’t surf. If you are playing a surf map on another server then you shouldn’t have to worry about this, the admin should already have this on. If you aren’t on a server than you have to open up the console (press `) and type in sv_airaccelerate 100 (see fig 1).

Ok, now its time to surf. To surf all you have to do is strafe towards the ramp and point the crosshairs in the direction you want to surf (see fig 2 & 3). DON’T PRESS FORWARD. If you press forward you will slide off the ramp. If you want to stop while surfing just press back. This will make you lose all momentum and just fall down so be careful where you use it

To turn while surfing, either at the end of a ramp or while on the ramp, point the crosshairs where you want to go and press the arrow towards that direction (see fig ).

To get a lot of speed is really easy. Just surf down low on the ramp. Also holding a lighter weapon like the knife or pistol also helps you to surf faster. To get a lot of air quickly swerve up at the end of the ramp rather than gradually rising.

Finally, the best way to get better at surfing is to PRACTICE. Yes, as tedious as practicing is it works. Everyone knows that practice makes you better. And finally always remember that even the best of surfers had to start of somewhere.

I've found surfing to be like drifting. There is a basic line for beginners, but as you develop your skills you can make your own lines.

Good tutorial even though I knew this stuff. Maybe add how to slow yourself down, and how to go fast through water and boost outta boster ramp things.
