Simple & Fun Halo Mod

Written by: NightStalker

What you need

What this will do

After completing this tutorial you will have learned how to make it seem that fire is coming out from behind your warthog leaving a trail, however, this will only appear to you, and no other players in the game. (unless of course they've done this, too)

Let's get started

After downloading your HMT, put it somewhere that you'll remember, open the correct file, and eventually you should come to a screen that looks something similar to this.

Next, you're going to have to open a map, choose any map you'd like, you'll eventually have to apply it to all the maps that you usually play (that have warthogs in it). For the purpose of this tutorial, I will start with Blood Gulch, and it would be easiest to follow if you did.
↓↓↓

To get to that screen, on the left click on "My Computer" then follow the following;

C:/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Halo/MAPS

Then click "open" after selecting "bloodgulch.map"

You'll see a lot of dropdown lists similar to this, except without the colored boxes. The boxes are there to tell you what to look for, and what to click on. So, obviously, click on the [+] that lies next to the "Effect (350 items)" text.
↓↓↓

You'll now see a screen like this, except without the right-click action going on. Scroll down until you find weapons\flamethrower\effects\flame char and click on it, then you'll see something similar at the top appear. Highlight the "Meta" numbers and letters, and then copy it.
↓↓↓

Now that you have the Meta code copied, scroll up a little until you start seeing a list that starts with effects\vehicle effects\slip dirt and ends with effects\vehicle effects\slip wood. You're now going to take that meta that you just copied, and replace it with every single Meta that's in the list. Simply delete the Meta that's already there, paste (ctrl + v or right click - paste). After you insert the Meta code from the flamethrower, click to the right of the text box that says "Save". (Note: you can always go back to the original Meta code by clicking on "Revert")
↓↓↓

Now remember, you have to apply this to every single map that you play that has a warthog in it. And, you have to get a new Meta tag from each map, as every single one is different. Remember these things and your game wont get screwed up.

In game sample of what you've just done!
