Protect your Map
Difficulty: Beginner
Category: CS:S > MappingAuthor(s): karatekaefer

1. Open the cstrike.fgd you found it here: X:\Programme\Steam\SteamApps\Account_Name\sourcesdk\bin
with a text editor and go to World (screenshot 1). This marked entry will be missing. Therefore we write in now!

Code:
no_decomp(choices) : "Disallow Decompiling" : "If Yes, then new versions of VMEX will refuse to decompile your map." =
[
"" : "No"
1 : "Yes"
]

2. Restart your Hammer and you can find a new entry "Disallow Decompiling" under Map >> Map properties (screenshot 2).

Cheers: Karatekäfer ;)

Honestly for me, i think de-compiliong a map is the most important part of learning to map. So to stop someone from seiing how you made a map, is just wrong. However, i understand how ppl wouldnt want their stuff stolen, but thats what happens. If some myg0t comes along and steals parts of your map, ppl are going to be able to tell, so you really shouldnt worry about that.

I personally like decompliling just to look at a map to see whats going on with it.....on the other hand i hate decompilers that copy and paste stuff from other peoples maps that they worked hard and long on....thats what the tuts/prefabs are for

Pros: Useful and helpful information. Although I believe sometimes this can be actually included by default anyways.
Cons: None to date

Since the majority of mappers decompile using vmex, it is great to see another way that will stop it from working.

Notes: effective.

/me sighs, anyone with a java decompiler and notepad can bypass this, don't waste your time trying to protect, it will decompiled just as easy, there is always a work around.
