Guile's CSS Transparent Spray Tutorial
Difficulty: Intermediate
Category: CS:S > SpraysAuthor(s): guile

Ok, well just want to say, Welcome to my tutorial! Today I will be showing you how to make a custom Counter-Strike: Source spray!

For this tutorial I will be using my latest spray, Devil May Spray.

Devil May Spray v2

Ok, so I'm hoping you have photoshop open and you've made a new document, size 256x256. I'm also hoping your render is already placed into the new document.

If you have that done, than go ahead. If you haven't, wtf you waiting for? Get to it!

Ok, first off make a new layer so we can get that sexy background up behind your render. All you got to do is bring out your rectangle selection tool and draw a rectangle where you want the background. Now fill the rectangle with a color and deselect it (CTRL+D). Now make another rectangle inside of the original one and filling up that one as well.

Now, with the rectangle still selected, pull out some cool brushes you want to use and select the color you used for the OTHER rectangle. Now, start brushing how you like and when your done, bring out your magic wand tool. Select the other rectangle and brush it as well (If you want to).

Now, pull the background layer below the render layer and move it adjust anyway you want.

Now merge all the layers down into one picture and do Select>load selected> ok. Now just click over to the channels tab and make a new layer there. You should still see the selection lines but the whole thing should be black. Just take out the REGULAR brush, color white and fill the whole selection up. Go back to the Layers tab and click the layer. Now deselect (CTRL+D) and save as a TGA (Targa).

Thats it! You've just made a killer spray everyone will love! Enjoy!

FOR EXTRA HOTNESS:

1. Run the render through filter>blur>Gaussian blur, blur settings at 1.0.

2. Edit>Fade Gaussian blur, and select any selection you want (I usually use Hard Light or Soft Light.) Adjust how you want.

3. Do the same for the background.

4. Filter>Sharpen>Sharpen, and press CTRL+F to repeat the sharpen if needed.

Thank you, I've been through a few transparent spray tut's and none of them seemed to work, but this was very easy and worked great, 10/10 for you.

Only improvements I could suggest, would be to use some HTML, like making keyboard shortcuts and any important text in bold and or colours.

Besides that, perfect.

Not bad, but for extra effect add a shadow to the render coming out of the box. It looks 10x better.
