| Category: CS:S > Mapping | Author(s): momentum |

This tutorial is for beginners very easy to understand. hope you enjoy XD
making water:
ok firstly: create a block where you would like to make your water, now search for textures using the texture browser. once you have done that search for nodraw in the filter and select the tools/toolsnodraw and apply. (Screenshot A)
now search for a water texture in the texture browser. I use, nature/water_canals03, and then texture the block with the water texture you chose. (Screenshot B)
ok now that we have water woooo. you now have to Create 2 entities, env_cubemap and water_lod_control. place them anywhere in your map preferably above the water but doesn't really matter. (screenshot c and d) bang we have water if your water is invisible whilst playing proceed further down.
Fixing water:
now if you water becomes invisible whilst playing your map you most likely have
map leaking. to fix this problem create a huge brush around your map and select the nodraw texture, (important) don't forget to hollow the nodraw texture other wise your map will be invisible while playing it. (screenshot e)
hope i helped you XD.
if you need any help with anything to do with map making just post it and ill make a easy tutorial for you. |
