Manual Music Tutorial

That's right, the people who don't want to use HLSS to play music still have a chance! You can still play music and not be left behind in the crowd. It's a very simple but lengthy process so listen carefully so that you don't miss a step.

First we'll start by converting the music. Any music converter will work, but for this tutorial I'll be using Nero Burning Rom. The advantage of using Nero Burning Rom is the whole song plays, as with any cheap converter it would cut off at a certain point. This is an upside for both the manual and HLSS program.

Open up your music converter and find the file you will be using. If you're using Nero Burning Rom here's how you'll do it.

Now you've got the "hard part" finished. Here's the easiest part of all. In order to do this step, make sure your config.cfg has the line exec userconfig.cfg

If you don't have the userconfig.cfg then create it. It can be any name but you have to have the exec [name].cfg located inside of the config.cfg

I've made this step simple for all of you. Just copy the coding from below and paste it into your userconfig.cfg

    bind "[" "voice_inputfromfile 1; voice_loopback 1; +voicerecord"
    bind "]" "-voicerecord; voice_inputfromfile 0"

Now when you want to play the song just press (yes press, NOT HOLD) [ and to turn it off press ]

You're all done! Now go test out your music in any server. The better the voice quality in a server, the better the music will sound. Remember: Don't spam it too much since some people find it annoying ;).

NOTES:

1. If you're going to use Nero Burning Rom, make sure you're not web browsing, chatting, or anything else. This will affect how the song is encoded. The music sounds slower than usual if you havn't followed the instructions I just told you.

2. The downside of doing it manually is you can only play one song.

3. Added by Rynx: If you want it to be more convenient then encode a whole bunch of songs and put them into your cstrike folder. Then change the names of each. For example if you want Kayne.wav to be played then rename that to voice_input.wav and rename the old voice_input.wav to something else if you want to use it later on.
