Airstrafing Basics Difficulty: Beginner |
| Category: CS:S > Other/Misc | Author(s): |

Two things that people think when they get Source and go into a scoutzknivez server:
#1. "Wow, how do those guys fly like that?"
#2. "I need to learn how to airstrafe..."
Here's a tutorial for you!
Ok, some basic rules of airstrafing:
#1. Don't hold down W unless you want to be shot.
#2. Make sure you have a running start, this is crucial for speed.
#3. Use A and D to turn (duh) but don't hold down W.
#4. Be as sparratic as you can when making routes in scoutzknivez, the map isn't big, so someone always knows where you are.
#5. Jump as soon as you hit the ground, this will make you gain more speed.
---------- HOW TO USE THESE RULES-----------
---First off, run, jump and let go of W. Now that you're in the air, move your mouse to the left, and hold down A, this will make you turn to the left in the air. Make sure you have constant motion on your mouse or you'll just go strait. The same idea applies for going right. Run, jump, let go of W, and hold D while moving your mouse to the right (constant motion) to cause you to turn right.
---You now know the basics to airstrafing, so now you need to know how to get your speed up. My way isn't a way of the wise, and I don't care what other people say, because it works. I bind my mousewheel down to jump every time i get into a server, and thus you can achieve a perfect bunny-hop. This means when you see yourself coming towards the ground, start to scroll, and you will jump as soon as you hit the ground, as long as you are still scrolling. And for those who are hardcore and can strafe with their spacebar, props to you, you are truly 1337.
---DISCLIAMER---
Ok, now you hopefully know how to airstrafe, and that is good, but airstrafing isn't everything, it's about your scouting skills too, so just because you know how to airstrafe, don't think you'll own just because of that. Just a thought :)
