Sky Camera

New Page 1

This is my first tutorial, i will try to keep it

simple/basic! lol

This tutorial will explain you how to make that skybox

cameras, if you still don't understand, think of the buildings etc out the

map (which are in the skybox)

Step 1

So let's say you made your map and added the skyboxes. I'm

making a simple map with 5 skybox brushes. (refer to screenshot A).

Step 2

Make a room made of skyboxes OUTSIDE your map and it's

skyboxes, put the sky_camera entity in the center of it. (refer to screenshot B)

Step 3

Put the models you want around the sky_camera entity, i

used Half-Life 2 building models for this tutorial. Remember that all models

will appear much bigger than their size while mapping, so it is best to use
those

small building models. (refer to screenshot C)

Step 4

Ok, now it must work. The only thing left is to adjust the

place of the sky_camera entity and the models, they can be in wrong places, you

might have to test the map in-game several times, good luck!

You can get the source file

HERE

if you want! (just pm me if the link is dead) ;)

Nice work,

But i have some questions that you might know. First one: is it posible to make the skybox up from brushes in the exual map and then copy it with sky_camera and skybox and scale it all down, so that the skybox will look like it was when you made it in the "real" map. Off corse you have to remove all the buildings that you copied into your skybox. But would it be passeble? And second, not about this tut. But still related to skyboxes: When I ad fog in my map (to make it look more dusty) the skybox won't match.. It's like the sky is clear but the buildings and props are fogged... Here is an exaple: http://screenshot.xfire.com/screenshot/natural/aaa1768c30e4af7336eacc22475810abda1d2958.png
BTW adding for to the sky_camera doest help for the sky, only for the skybox buildings.. So I'm out of idea's :S:P

The ShotGun onws them all..
