Add skin switching support to CS:S Difficulty: Beginner |
| Category: CS:S > Strategies & Tactics | Author(s): |

*****************************************************************
This Mini-tut describes how to add skin switching support to CS:S
It IS designed for noobs so if you have a question feel free to ask
and i will add the answer to the tut for everyone to use....
This is NOT cheating.
YOU WILL NOT be banned for using this info at worst you will just be kicked.
(Like a Consistancy enforcemant kick).
In this case just switch it off and join the server like normal.
*****************************************************************
This tut will allow you to use lots of different skins and still have all your teams in the same outfit. An added bonus is you can change the skins all the players use while the game is actually running running.* SEE RENDER IMAGE
Why would i want to do that?
You can have a Green camo Urban skin, a desert SAS.etc. and swap between them on the fly when the level changes on the server.
For example I have a desert SAS skin running on my system so when ever I play on de_dust map i just press f3 and all CTs appear as Desert SAS regardless of the character they have chosen for themselves!
If you plan you skins to match your favoutrite levels your skins will never look out of place again!!
OK let's do it.
Start CS:S and change to windowed mode.
This will allow you to read the tut as you add commands.
If your console window is already open skip the next paragraph.
Opening the console window:
Quit CSS.
First we need to tell steam to start with the console open.
Back in steam,Right click on the progam name in the list and select properties
Click "Select launch options" and add "-Console" to the end of the current command line.
Now restart CSS and you should see a large window to the right of your screen.
This is your console window. :D
Adding Commands:
Now we need to add the commands, copy and paste each line into the console window
bind 'F1' 'cl_minmodels 1 ;cl_min_ct 1'
bind 'F2' 'cl_minmodels 1 ;cl_min_ct 2'
bind 'F3' 'cl_minmodels 1 ;cl_min_ct 3'
bind 'F4' 'cl_minmodels 1 ;cl_min_ct 4'
bind 'F5' 'cl_minmodels 1 ;cl_min_t 1'
bind 'F6' 'cl_minmodels 1 ;cl_min_t 2'
bind 'F7' 'cl_minmodels 1 ;cl_min_t 3'
bind 'F8' 'cl_minmodels 1 ;cl_min_t 4'
Now your f1 - f8 keys will allow you to switch models as you are playing the game. :)
We now need a key to switch it off because some purist servers wont allow you to use this.
Because I HIGHLY recommend you unbind your f10 key (the QuickQuit key ) we will bind f10 to turning off model select. So paste the following commands into the console window.
unbind 'F10'
bind 'F10' 'cl_minmodels 0'
All done! Now join a server and try it out.
I wll post some screenies of it working soon..
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Uninstall instuctions:
If at any point you want to remove this mod just use the following lines in your console
unbind 'F1'
unbind 'F2'
unbind 'F3'
unbind 'F4'
unbind 'F5'
unbind 'F6'
unbind 'F7'
unbind 'F8'
unbind 'F10'
