Note
Maps are my main example here, but this idea is in no way limited to just maps. Skins, scripts, tutorials etc... all take time and effort to be done well and deserve the rewards mentioned below.

I have noticed lately that two people can submit their own map or skin, and both receive the same amount of points. This is fine and does not need to be changed.

However, if someone submits a small, very basic textured map with bugs, then someone comes and submits an immense, realistic map without bugs, there should be a second system for rewarding all the extra time and effort put into the bigger map.

Then it hit me, the system is 90% there. The CSA approval ratings should be directly converted to points for the author! If you are voted 10 / 10, you would receive 10 points. If you are voted 5 / 10, you receive 5 points.

Currently, i think after 30 assessments the assessing finishes and the map is given an overall rating. I think the assessing should be allowed to continue after the map has been given a rating to allow the author to keep receiving these small amounts of points and get what they truly deserve for their submission.

It has the potential to earn up to 1000 points if you are assessed 10 / 10 one hundred times. That is very hard to do and i believe the points reward is still very reasonable and balanced.

Example
Small crappy map:
20 x 6 / 10 = 120 points
6 x 5 / 10 = 30 points
4 x 4 / 10 = 16 points
Author receives 166 bonus points for their submission.

Immense, pretty map:
20 x 10 / 10 = 200 points
6 x 9 / 10 = 54 points
4 x 8 / 10 = 32 points
Author receives 286 bonus points for their submission.

Of course, assessments from your own studio members would still not be counted.

Anyone else like this idea?

I will have to disagree. This will cause just alot of point hungry people to begin posting crap things just so they can get the 6/10 and get points. We need to keep this site to a minimum ways of recieving points so the work is high quality and for the credit. Not for the points.

Plus, it is unfair for the people who do all their work, and take a while to release, then the people who go to other sites and get permission to release will already have 5000 points...

I will have to disagree back Mr. Pink.

People can already make 20 effortless submissions if they wanted quick points, and a moderator or admin could gag them and trash the submissions. This won't change.

This system just rewards authors for the time and effort put into their work, which currently isn't happening. Everyone is getting the same reward no matter how much work they do.

The above link is to a thread that covers the authors vs submitters battle, discussing giving much larger rewards to authors, and small rewards to submitters. Often punishment to submitters that haven't credited authors.

Post your thoughts in there (:

Is great idea, but will be better if u remove the points for 6/10.

Your idea has merit, but it's impossible until we begin making a distinction between author submitted content and non-author submitted content. Also, the point system would have to be rebalanced.

I believe they should have another menu or something, stating "effort". Then if people regard it, as lots of effort put in, then the author should get more points.

Not a bad idea, but you could just donate some points to the author and add the map as a favorite.

Anyone else got thoughts towards this?

That would be cool but i think if someone rate a submisision with a 2, the submitter cant win 2 points, because they would be rewarding a bad submission

True that, i disagree with the approval thing though, how can you approve something with a score under 5/10? If you choose approve it should only let you vote 5 & above. If you choose disapprove it should let you vote 4 and below. This would avoid that problem.

I love the idea, but I think this should only work it if is the submitters work. I don't think people who submit other people's work should get the point bonus.
