Java help needed Java programmers needed.

I am fairly new to Java and have found fairly many differences unlike other languages I know. So, I have 8 different Strings with names, like start, one, two, three and so on. I am looking for a way to choose a random one of them. I cannot assign them to numbers and then back because that would be stupid and bad codemanship. Can any1 help? I know this isn't the place to ask, but I am almost certain there are a few programmers in here that know Java to the point that they can help me.

If only you were doing this in C++ then i could help you. i know some java only because many elements of C++ cross over. more information would be great

I think I got it, I need an array of Strings assigned to numbers and then do a random number.
