MilkShape 3d wont work MilkShape 3d shuts down after i try to import a reference

OK, i was following the "Make your own weapon" tut, which has you make a knife i got to the MilkShape part and it said to import the knife_t reference, so i did now, when i tried to import it, milkshape froze for 10 secs then an error message popped up saying milkshape 3d isnt working and needs to shut down This happens EVERYTIME i attempted to import that reference, it still shuts down when steam is turned off (dont know if i had to do that but w/e) so, can anyone help me with this problem? Why wont it work, and what will make it work? Note: Im using Vista Ultimate

Are you trying to import as a Half-Life SMD?

Or it could be your exporter / max version, i had to get 9 so the exporter would work. What are you using Max and exporter wise?
