Well the title says it, how do u do a poly count in 3ds max?

You right click in a view port and click "show statistics" that should work

Which version of 3ds max is it? If it's anything lower than 2008, then just go to the Tools Tab(Hammer Icon), click on More, and select Polygon Counter from the list. If it's 3ds max 2008, just press number 7 in the viewports.
