Update
-----------
The movie is now officially confirmed and is in development since Yesterday
After a long day of throwing my battle knife at a tree and swimming in a pool at my vacation place house thing, I decided to entertain myself by listening to music and browse Wikipedia (It's quite fun) about random topics, so I saw Hancock not long ago and searched it up, then searched for Spider-Man because he is a super hero and off to Venom, his arch nemesis. I scrolled down to the film part and at the last line after it spoke of his failures in Spider-Man 3, something was mentioned about a spin off. I searched into on IGN and didn't find much besides rumors, but looks like on February 2 it was confirmed that Marvel is moving on with a film to sugar coat the failures of Spider-Man 3. I looked up for some plot details and found this much, it's going to be taking place in L.A most likely like in the comics when he moved away to be the "Lethal Protector" of the city and the movie will revolve around his struggle with his life and the symbiote which gives him "intoxicating power". The style of the movie will revolve around him as an Anti-Hero, not a villain, but still brutal and lethal. The real antagonists weren't mentioned, but maybe we will see Carnage unless Spider-Man 4 hasn't signed on for him.
Eddie Brock to get his stand alone film, Venom is coming back to the big screen!
One of the biggest disappointments from Spider-Man 3 was how they developed the villains, or actually how they didn't develop the villains, but between the three baddies that we had to contend with the biggest let down was Eddie Brock A.K.A. Venom.
Venom, by far one of the coolest villains in the Spider-Man universe, was played poorly by Topher Grace and was definitely one of the biggest let downs in the entire Spider-Man trilogy.
Not to say Topher Grace was the wrong man for the job, but with poor material and a badly put together movie, you just weren't going to get any stellar performances. I mean, asking God to kill Peter Parker is one of the lamest lines I've ever heard.
But Venom fans rejoice, Marvel is moving forward with a new stand alone film, yep you heard right, Venom is coming back to the big screen.
I think this is great in my opinion, Venom failed in Spider-Man 3 like Hulk did in 2003, but succeeded this year with the Incredible Hulk, so I think Venom can get his image cleared up if they make him better. The CG Venom looked horrid, like the Hulk (not as muscly) from 2003 type of bad CG without detailed muscles, looks and most of the CG focused on his mask going on and off...
I am anticipating this film and I hope Marvel Studios doesn't fail me like they did with the other Spider-Man films along with Iron-Man and the Incredible Hulk. So lets go Marvel, don't fail me now.
