Hello,

I decided to have a go at skinning for TF2 and first of all I tryed darkening the wood on the Snipers machete and rifle.

It turned out great until I tryed in game, the whole view model and the world model was black where it should have been a bit brighter like lighting.

This to me seems like a Shading problem or I have done something wrong.

Programs used:-

VTFEdit 1.2.4
Gimp 2.4.4

Here is a screenshot from HLMV:-

It looks to me as if it's a phong problem...

I didn't change anything in the vmt, though after Aerial's post I disabled phong in it but it didn't chnage anything.

My graphics card is an 8800GT but the original skin is fine so it is not a hardware problem if that is what you are thinking.

Looks like it is the usual alpha channel fuck up.
if i am not mistaken. try to get the alpha channel to work in gimp. i dunno how since i use photoshop.

Thanks Diwako! It works now

I experimented with the alpha channel in Gimp and compared it to the original skin, then I found out my VTFEdit was outdated so I updated it.

My try at a realistic machete:-
