About The Contest: This contest doesn't require a lot of knowledge of mapping so anyone can join up and give it a shot. Even just the basics can get you by as seen in the video example below that was created in only half an hour. Rather than a test of skill this is a test of your creativity and how far you can take it with just a simple starting point.
What this is all based on is a simple item, a Marble Track, if you don't know what that is then there is the video example below of a basic track, and some google searches one can do for more advanced tracks. What this contest is about is building your very own marble track in whatever way you want to, whether its by visual style, track complexity or just the shear scale of the track itself. Your free to do whatever you can think of. Complete freedom in what you use and how you use it, literally the only thing you cannot do is parent the marble to another entity to move it. All physics interactions have to be real. Everything else is up to you.
Contest will run a total of 2 full months, people can join and submit their tracks at any point between the start and end of this contest. All contestants will get 500 points just for submitting their map, then the top 5 maps get an additional 5000 for their hard work.
Submissions will be judged on:
- Most Creative
- Most Interesting Theme
- Most Effective Use of Multiple Balls
- Best Ramp Design (Textures, shapes etc taken into account)
- Best Visual Effects/Events/Extra Content
- Track Length (Both time and physical length taken into account)
- Track Complexity
Each section will be given a rating out of 5 from the judges as listed on the right, each judge will then submit their scores for all submissions via a group PM with the rest of the judges and finalists will be picked and awarded within a week of the contest ending.
Any questions about the contest or towards the judges can be posted here or sent via a PM to the person in question. Problems or issues that come up can be addressed here as well. Feel free to share ideas amongst yourselves. Working in teams or groups is acceptable but the prize pot is awarded to the submission itself so it will be divided up amongst those who created it rather than 5000 to each. Participation however is still paid individually.
