Does anyone have any idea why sometimes in game v_models for weapons (default) fade out at a distance when on a players back? It doesn't happen all the time, and never when the model is in the players hands. I don't, and never have used an FPS config. Is there some sort of console command that does that?

But when I am at a distance and they have their pistol out the rifle should be visible on their back. When I move closer I can see it as it fades in and out of existence.

Regardless of that, DX9 still makes it fade away. I notice this too, but not when I have my hands full.

I know it does. But in DX7 it fades faster.
