I've been working on a layout for a payload map and this is what it turned out.




Yellow fields represents capture points.
Red building represents red Spawn
Blue areas and building represents blue only and spawns.
Green building represents camp spots and other.
The line represents Payload path.
Notice that it's the Red team escorting the bomb and destroying the blue base.

I believe that he made it in SketchUp, or autocad.

Looks nice, I can't help you tho.

One thing that I noticed, is that alot of Checkpoints are in the middle of big areas, where normaly the battle will be intense. So I recommend you to put the checkpoints at the end of these areas. It's just like a singleplayer game, a checkpoint in the middle of a intense battle is useless.

Awesome sketch, the map looks very promising as Sgt said.

if im not mistaken, the spawn poing in the middle rotates the open door so once a checkpoint is reached, a new door opens. it is a really good idea actually

It really doesn't look that hard to make, you could easily get the map made in two days, texture and offsets will take a while though, With a map maker that knows what they are doing, it would take about a month for a final version. one thing I might recommend, give more space, the battle field must be bigger and give red another exit. I would also give more side paths, your going to need people able to push heavy on one side of a path and break through, if you make it only one way to get through people will be unable to get through if they other team has enough engineers, Have you seen what it is like when you get 5 Sentrys together? not pretty lol
I would love to help but I am going to be busy the next few weeks or else I would take you up on it

Of course this is without any props etc, so just something to keep in mind.
Payload doesn't really work too well if it's too open.
Amidst the mists and fiercest frosts,
With barest wrists and stoutest boasts,

It does look good, and I can see the detail already in that ss...

But what I mean is that there is a lot of scattered cover in pl_goldrush, which leads to more chaotic fun guerilla-style gameplay. As well, there are multiple directions from which an attacker can come at the next area, such as dropdowns etc.

My concern is that with too much open space, one will never be able to get near the cart without being nailed from far away.

I would really like to help with this project if possible. I've got a good knowledge of hammer, especially tf2. I can't really show you any maps, as i haven't completed any so far, but i have an excellent knowledge of how payload works.

If you are wondering why i have no maps, i've just been learning for the past 3 months, i feel that is better to understand the programs intricacies then get started.

If you want a hand, just pm me and I'll get to work :). The map is looking great so far, nice work.
