Yeah so not only is it bad enough they released only 1 achievement thing packing servers with medics they also made it so that people can now get everything by typing a few words with underscores. get prepared forn00bs with ubersaws on servers. but still i cant hate on vavle i mean i love there games. everyone makes mistakes. although not sure how theyll fix this one...

Lol the steam forums has a 14 page thread on this , i feel the achievments should of just been for pride not for weapons , now all the servers , especially the goldrush 1's are spammed with medics

I used it and don't regret it, I have too much shit to do besides sitting down and grinding impossible achievements.

They'll have to remove it, quick. I'm going to have to stop playing TF2 if everyone just use this command to make themselves look 1337, and unlock all weapons, it would be way to unbalanced!

They screwed up with this medic already so only way they could get it back, is to reset all achievements from all players, and that ain't gonna happen.

Surely Valve could do a massive Orange Box system restore-like thing, where achievements/weapons obtained after the release of dustbowl up until the time the command is fixed are taken away.

Ugh, I'm of mixed feelings about this, since I do admit to grinding out the punching Heavy achievement last night (though it was with friends and we were having fun screwing around anyway). Overall, I unlocked the new needlegun last night through normal play. And my remaining achievements are those I want to earn legit, as they will give me an idea of how well I'm improving with the class.

The proper matches I was in were interesting, though. For a while, we had tons of medics on each side... then people would go pyro to rack up medic kills... then back to medic to get achievements... it was a hilarious cycle.

BUT, ultimately, it looked like most players who do not regularly play the class got bored of the medic after unlocking the needlegun. So, things balanced out pretty well after a few hours.

I suspect that "must have everything" people will use the console commands... and probably abandon the class if they normally don't play medic. Which will leave the current medic population these coming weeks split between players who like the class and would play it regardless of the new weapons, players who don't care either way and play medic as part of their rotation, and scrubs who are trying to grind for stuff they'll probably never use.

Eh. I got 20 of them by earning them. I didn't feel like grinding anymore so I just used the command. I'm not really a Medic player anyway though.

I think Valve kind of messed up by only releasing just one class but hey, the update was free.

Chances are that Valve will disable that command and revert everyone back to normal.

It won't be too long from now until Valve releases an update removing the command.... it was probably added for the Dev team to test the unlocks.

Getting them all legit isnt rewarding also as you will be called a noob because they think you used the command even if you didnt. And it even took you alot more work then just typing a single thing. At least there is still fun in getting them as some are crazy or simply need some luck.

still, if people used the command like: achievement_unlock milestone1 (to 3) i would give them respect as they still got to do the hard stuff. the unlock all is lame and will allways be.

i would get frustrated if they remove the command because i have to do some stuff again but as i was already able to get 25 of the achievements in 1 day i dont think re-doing them is that hard. hopefully valve does reset the medic ones (i dont care if they got the normal ones with that command - including that heal 25k as it was before the medic update. when those class based things come they will get it harder anyway).

With this and the recent bot-spam command getting leaked, I think whoever is in charge of QA for the console needs a severe talking-to.

Yeah, I like the concept of achievements and unlockables, but for a team-based casual game such as this, I'd rather they be attached to bragging-rights fluff instead of things that so drastically affect gameplay. If things like the KritzKrieg become major strategies, I want to depend on /everyone/ on my team to potentially be able to fire one off, not just me as the career Medic. (Though I would hope I would deploy it better/smarter as the specialist player.)

Edit: I appear to still have my 18 achievements (I didn't use the console command, though), but I know of some people who had a partial wipe.

Edit#2: I've had so much fun as pyro during this time, though (my #2 class), I can't WAIT 'til this all happens again for the Spy update. BWA HA HA! ::burns::

Looks like my achievements got reverted. Busted. :(

Ah well. I didn't like the weapons anyway. xD
