How diffrent than Css mapping?

I am getting good at Css map making, but I currently have been playing TF2 more than Css and want to make a map/maps for it. How different is hammer for Orange Box games then HL:Ep1 games?

I guess the entities are a bit different. just have a look around.

Totaly agree. though i just clicked on a media wich said tf2 surfing. thats where the problem for me comes. you got dubble jumpes... rocket jumps... different character speeds... so you sould think more becouse players can get where others can't get

You also have to be aware of the different player sizes, and make sure that they can fit everywhere.

Kk when i finish my new map in maybe an hour, I will start working on my TF2 map. What is easier to make, a CTF, TC or CP?

CTF probably, Just make sure both sides are similar in layout.

TF2 mapping is alot diffirent that CSS mapping. the only thing that is the same is that you use hammer.

For TF2 you have to make sure rocket/sticky jumping is possible but cant be abused by being able to watch thru walls. also, in tf2 you have to make special spawns while in css you can use allmost every area. The thing you have to watch most on in tf2 (even for a ctf map) is that every class can play normal in the map. avoid long routes without side areas as those areas are sniper fests. dont make the map rocket jump only also. for CP maps you should make the capture time about 3 seconds minimum or spies and scouts can abuse this very well. best is to have a bending main route between the flags/CPs so you cant have direct fire but snipers cant own the map also and add side routes that are possibly class specific.

The CTF is indeed the easiers one (as aerial said) and the TC the hardest.

last note: dont make special engineer spots as class specific routes! in allmost every map they are still able to place a sentry at good spots so there is no need for it. if they get a special sentry spot which is well defended it becomes allmost impossible to take them down which is bad.
