First type host_framerate 30 inconsole this will cap the fps on 30 no more and no less.


now put your settings all the way up and put the resolution on 1024x768 in windowed mode.

then type this startmovie [moviename] avi in console. Now select your codec and press OK.

EDIT: Now type in playdemo [demoname]


Your PC will lag like hell but this is normal. leave it untill it ends and your will have your .avi. :)

Yes, use the Source Recoder, but I must make something clear: Do not use Fraps, and I will cut off the balls of anyone that recommends it. It defeats the purpose. The whole reason to use a demo is so you are not forced to record in real-time.

That's it. I'm going to cut your balls off. See my above post for the reason. As for no sound with the Source Recorder.... I've never had that problem. But yes, it does take longer; That's a good thing.

i make great videos with fraps. first time i tried source record, the avi file was corrupted and wouldnt open. taking longer is a good thing if your computer sucks i guess.

just set fraps to 60 fps, and it works great.

There is sound and it results in excellent quality. I'm gonna do the same as Judo to whoever uses Fraps :(

Also Zippit, that method is shorter but it most likely results in 4gig corrupted .avi files that cannot be used.
