I hate blender, and when I've finished this I'm moving onto max, so yeah.

I suggest blender. Is like a PRO free program. Its open source so they have updates frequently

Don't have Maya, and I'm not planning to downl.. acquire it anytime soon. :/ Plus I know my way around MS3D like the back of my hand... or near enough anyway.
