About Operation Black Mesa

Operation Black Mesa is a Half Life 2 modification; the second installment of the award winning Half Life. Utilizing the immense array of features of the Source engine, the Operation Black Mesa team plans to remake Opposing Force in all it's glory in the Source engine. What we plan to do is remake everything from the 3D models to the maps, so that Opposing Force can once again be praised as one of the best expansion packs for any game to date. We here at the Operation Black Mesa team wish to comprise both single-player and multi-player elements into our modification. We may be adding a Capture the flag mode, but don't quite count on it at the moment.

Animator

As an animator, the tasks will be to bring static models to life from typical weapon to complex mysterious X-Race. # Must have knowledge of animating program. # Able to animate weapons and/or organic models. # Able to produce cinematic physic is optional but a plus. # Must have previous works to be shown. # Must have some free time to work. # Must be dedicated to mod. # Be proficient or advance in the field you're applying for. # Able to create work at our request.
Coder/Scripter

We are actually looking for a C++ programmer that would love to work with the team when needed. # Knowledge of C++ programming # Knowledge of SVN is optional but plus. # Able to create AI and weapons system. # Knowledge of Source Engine Shader system is optional but a plus.# Must have previous works to be shown. # Must have some free time to work. # Must be dedicated to mod. # Be proficient or advance in the field you're applying for. # Able to create work at our request.
Texture Artist

The Operation Black Mesa Team had released another media release featuring many new ingame screenshots of the level. In addition, they added many new awesome concept arts. Check it out!


Hello everyone and welcome to another OpBM media release!

It's been a long time since we updated the community with media but we've been hard at work and are ready to show some more!

Since last time around, several new members have joined the development team. I'm pleased to announce that our mapping team is now almost full with one final spot pending. Our cadre of talented mappers have been hard at work to recreate the enviroments of Black Mesa in the Orange box engine and we've got no less than four chapters to show from.

We also recently had several excellent modelling applicants who are now striving to fill the mod with items like the new combat knife and the desert eagle pistol, as well as another addition to our team of concept artists who never cease to amaze with their art.

Then what positions does that leave? We are still in need of a texture artist or two to work on enviromental textures and prop skinning, an animator and a coder.

Wrapping this article up we'd like to point out that even if we don't post updates every second week we're not dead, far from it. We are all hard at work and will continue to do so till this thing is done!

Operation Black Mesa is on FPSB!
I am pleased to announce that Operation Black Mesa has come to set up it own game and studios profile at FPSBanana. Unfortunately we will not be using it as our main site of operation, but rather as a place promote our media release. At the moment we only have 2008 Media Release up. Want older media release to be upload as well? Leave a comment!

We are Hiring!
If you're not already aware, we are looking for texture artist, model designer, animator, and a additional C++ programmer as backup. Please head over here to see the requirements. Then head on over to our forums to make an application. Upon making an application you will be given a test assignment by one of our lead. Please, we are desperately in need of experience animator.

Christmas Media Release - A personal message from me.
Our last Moddb media release on December 24th was somewhat a bit let-down for most people and was criticized for our poor works. I would like to personally point out that majority of our media contents are not finals. What you see is the current work in progress of the mod, and will not represent the final outcome of the work. We don't have all the resource at the moment, you know. So please for the sake of your time and the reputation, make a civilize post or constructive criticism that will help improve our works. Spamming, threatening, or starting flame war will do nothing but waste your life because we'll simply ignore you.

Just give us time for pete's sake. Your patience will be appreciates by us. At the mean time you can play your part by being active on our forums once a while. It will motivate some of our members. Or better yet, help spread the words for us. :)
