Lost Cause is a mod in development based on realizing the war between rebels and combine and utilizing it for realistic warfare maps and features. It is planned for it to be a game that requires out-of-game set-up for you to be able to get the best out of the game.
What this means, is you go to the official website for the mod (when it is up) and sign up for a battalion. You will be unable to download the client until you are in a battalion, where you will be provided with the mod files best suited for your battalion.
Each battalion has it's own forums, where you and the battalion leaders can plan scrimmages with other battalions, etc. So far, it is planned for there to be about 5 battalions. You may only be in one battalion at a time. If you wish to join another, you must first leave your current one.
In terms of gameplay, Lost Cause is not intended to be any kind of total conversion from the original hl2dm, but more of an alternative playing style for those of you serious warfare junkies out there. It is planned to include large, outdoor maps, and possibly vehicles.
