Well I understad, what you tried to do, but thats not much cartoon like ... It looks like some icecreams around barrel ... I guess, that different shape and totally flat look with edges would, be better ... but still interesing idea ... Im gonna aprove it, after you make it more recognizable... =P good luck and don´t give up ...

Round out the edges a bit and it will look better. You want to make it look a bit 3d correct?
