Further information, and how it was made.


With inspiration from EinHain with his Anthro Hands I have been improving on the idea of creating some CSS hand skins other than human hands. I've seen numerous attempts at creating "lizard man" style skins but I've never been happy with the concept. Being a furry myself I loved the idea of having myself appear as a wolf or other animal.

The skin was created using the default photoshop grass brush to create a furry hands texture. The scales were made with the pen tool and some various other effects. A lot of copy and paste was involved...A crap load of trial and error and experience from my previous attempts helped a lot. Feel free to use my skin as a BASE if you need help lining up things on your own skins, you can see how the hands wrap around the model quite easily. For further help feel free to PM me, I have a PSD for anyone interested.

For the bump mapping I used crazy bump and I learned phong from the valve wiki.

Hello everyone, fellow furries or the average CSS player who is looking for something new and exciting.
I'm back and this time around we have eleven skins recreated from scratch using new techniques.
Lower end computers will now be able to enjoy the skin as well as higher end users this time around.
I continue to have bump mapping and phong support but I did not rely or overuse this as I felt
I had last time on version 1 of Anthro Arms. I hope you all enjoy, C&C is welcome. However, furry bashing is not.

=-Installation-=

Extract anthroarms.zip into your "steamapps\%account-name%\counter-strike source\cstrike\" folder.
Once you install you are automatically using the "Wolf" skin.

**To choose another skin, do the following:
Go into your "steamapps\%account-name%\counter-strike source\cstrike\materials\models\weapons\v_models\hands\" folder.
Inside will be 11 folders and 4 files.
Copy the files out of the folder you want (each folder labeled by animal species) and paste them in the hands folder.
Open "allskins.jpg" to see a preview of each skin for reference.
When windows asks to overwrite, say yes to all.

Load up CSS and you will have the new skin you chose. This can be undone at any time by choosing another skin.

=-Uninstallation--=

To uninstall these skins, simply overwrite it with another downloaded skin OR go into the "steamapps\%account-name%\counter-strike source\cstrike\materials\models\weapons\v_models\hands\" folder and delete the following 3 files:
v_hands.vmt
v_hands.vtf
v_hands_normal.vtf

You can get them back at any time by copying the animal skin you want out of the folders provided like explained in the installation section above. You will now see the default CSS hands.


Unrelated:
AsheruWolf created some really nice sounds that fit with this skin pack for a great gameplay feeling.

Pros: Very nice job, I love it. All of the arms look great, and it's very creative. Something new and original against all these repetitive skins is great.
Cons: I dunno.
Improvements: Some more would be even better.

Pros: Nobody has ever tried this before (I think)!
Awesome, great detail! Love the Salamander one.
Cons: Lizard is kind of too bright and that brown collar thingy is restraining my power...
Improvements: More! :D Make the lizard skin a bit darker, maybe some more shades of green. Do something about the brown collar thingy (remove it?) and make the transition between the top half and lower half "blend" a bit more, because now with some weapon skins where you can see the top half meeting the lower half it looks weird and unnatural.
Notes: The salamander is the win. Can't wait for a v3 if there is one coming. (More scalie ones!)

I might give this a go....who knows i might stick with it, but damn good job, though the wristband thing kinda bothers me. Other than that, im not putting personal interests as a real option, 10/10.

In-game its awesome, thanks. now i can kick the shit out of anti-furries in css

It's part of the model which I can't change. Valve did that because...well I'm not exactly sure why =P
