Although most of them are nearly identical, the main differences I found pertained to the color of the red pyro's gas tank. There have been all-yellow, black and yellow, all-gray, and black and gray versions. I chose to go with the black and gray gas tank for the red pyro since it better contrasts with the blue pyro's all-yellow gas tank. Essentially, I based these pyros directly on the TF2 HUD images: Also, the colors here are fine. As I've said before, I use any remnants of the beta textures left in TF2 as a base reference for my beta-style recreations. This Beta-Style Pyro is, I would say, around 80-90% accurate to the beta texture. The colors were never any darker in previous development stages of the game (In fact, they were actually a bit brighter). In addition to those remnants, I also closely examined the pre-release screenshots for TF2: Red Pyro 1 Red Pyro 2 Red Pyro 3 Blue Pyro As you can see, the pyro's outfit has always been bright. Any "darkness" you may perceive is simply a trick of the lighting/shading/media compression.
