Starting a Studio Here's a little help to get you started. |
So, you've opened a Studio and you're ready to take on the leaderboard with brilliant release after brilliant release before emerging victorious as the number one Studio on FPSBANANA!
...WAIT! Hold up a bit!
There are some things you have to know before you begin! Read on to find out!
Find a Niche
What you absolutely don't want to do is start a studio that does what every other studio does. You need to find a niche, or opportunity area that nobody else is tapping into.
How do you find this area? You need to look at what the other studios are up to and do the opposite. You also need to look within and see what unique interests you and your members have and make it your greatest strength.
Start Small
Inviting everybody the day you start the studio is a bad idea! Your members will get caught up in the initial excitement which will quickly disappear, leaving you with a dead Studio.
Think carefully about who you invite. Get to know them well before you invite them. Don't just invite anybody. Also, you shouldn't always invite people based on their skills alone. How well they get along with others is very important too!
Look Good
A well designed studio layout and color theme is critical! You should base your theme off your Studio's unique talents and interests. If your Studio is all about Sci-Fi, make it Sci-Fi themed. If you Studio is about Fire, Water, Air and Earth, give it a theme to match!
Remember! Spend time making your releases look good. Make sure the renders look beautiful and the ingame screenshots are detailed. Remember to take screenshots in correct lighting. Check and double check your release notes for spelling errors!
Get Seen
Exposure is pivotal! You need to get your Studio out there and seen by the community. You can achieve this in many ways - through activity, releases and promotion.
All your members should promote the Studio in their profiles as well as in their forum sigs. You should also add the #STUDIO_EMBED_CODE# module to your Studio profile and get your fans spreading the word.
And of course, you can generate interest in your Studio through constant news posts and WiPs.
Conclusion
Stay focussed on your Studio's strengths. Do what you're good at. Don't worry about what other studios are doing - do what you like doing and get good at it. Quality is better than quantity! The time you spend perfecting releases will pay off! |
