Mikeyspike's PC Monitor:
--------------------------------------

Hey guys! My first model for FPSB. THis is based off my current monitor, a BenQ T903. This hasn't been UVMapped and some things may not be 100% perfect.
If you do use this in anything, please, let me know. Also, if you are going to edit this, Credit me and tell me as well.

Thanks for the download, don't forget to assess!

P.S. If you have any tips on how to "merge" 2 objects into 1 on 3ds Max 2008. Please let me know!

P.S.S. If you also have any tips on how to UVMap complicated models, please tell me.

Thanks again!

The Box UV is built into 3DS max, I have 3DS max 9, not so sure about 2008.

I got someone else to compile it into the game for me, but I know in the old HL1 games you could use MilkShake 3d to get the .smd's (or whatever file type) together, and have a compile file which puts it together (it's mostly text).

I haven't Modeled anything ment for gaming for a long time. Mostly for show.

Ok thanks for that, ill have a look round, im working on a turret atm, so be sure to wach out for that ;)

Well to UV map [very] simple objects, you could use the UV unwrap and use the BOX wrap method. it'll take pictures of all 6 sides, turn them into a uv map and voila.

However for complicated, I am not so sure.

Good effort, When I made a TV (CRT) for Gmod9/10 it turned out a bit ugly, the buttons were sticking out more then others and such.

i shall give that BOX method a go, do i need any plugins?. you should have another go at the tv.

Also, could you tell me how to get a 3d model into Garrys mod. Do you know how you could get it in to 10? thanks.

is a simple, and undetailed model, but a worthy attempt.

to attach multiple objects in 3ds simply go into the editable poly/mesh roll out and click attach, attach, then click the component that you wish to attach to it.

to uvmap complex objects, apply the unwrap UVW modifier then select by face, and quick planar map individual, or multiple faces, depending on the surface, finally stitching together the edges, until you have a UVMap

so overall, 6/10

Thanks for the info! I shall try them out now.
Do you have any suggestions on what I should model next?
Also , do you have any tips on ways of modeling?

Thanks anyway :)
