I've over critical, for that im sorry.
I hate Surf maps because the mappers put zero effort into mapping them.
I hate Achievement maps because the mappers put zero effort into mapping them...
So needless to say i do not like these two mapping styles because the mappers map with an awful personality. One which does not aim to improve the art but only bring it down, flooding the servers with odder crap maps.
When users see "these" maps they see those at what custom mapping is sadly, and write off the real maps.
FFS stop making bad maps! put some effort into your mapping time some rules.
1. it takes A LOT of time to make a map, months, not DAYS.
2. Do not use Carve tool.
3. You are allowed 95% of brushwork in your map, if you are using about 10% something is wrong.
4. Add light, add environment.
5. Look at the maps out there, don't release anything that looks worse.
6. Ask for help and feedback

9. Try to better your mapping, don't make 3 maps in a week, you've learned nothing.
10. Read tutorials, learn hammer.
11. Detail. Join a REAL custom or official map and learn from it.
12. Don't make Surf maps. *see note*

note: If you do make either a surf or achievement map put some work into it. Make it look amazing, add some tf2 elements to it, make it fun show some pride in your work. |
