Not really, especially once you start getting into it it actually is a short amount of time.

The one thing is though there is a big time distortion factor in which time either goes appears faster/slower then it really is which is always fun.

For a first timer I would suggest only taking a 16th(Usually distributed in 8th so I would split it with a friend)

Yeah man, I use this. It's called Audacity and it's really good. A bit complicated but easy to use the simpler stuff. You can do different tracks too which is cool.
