To make the boards stay in the ground and breakable make them func_breakable and give them the properties you want to as far as strength gibs etc. Place the metal parts where you want them in game, then make them func_physbox_multiplayer. You will need to give each of the physboxes a name, although if you want two or more of them to be released at the same time you can give them the same name. You then need to set some flags, unselect generate output on use and select only break on trigger, motion disabled, and if you don't want it to cause too many problems like sometimes stopping people from running over it, select debris-don't collide.... Now go back to the breakable piece you want it to be attached to and add an output it should look like this.

My output named: onbreak
Target entity named: the name of the physbox it's connected to
Via this input: Enable motion

Now when in game, the metal will stay in the air as if supported by the wood until the wood is broken at which time it will fall and start to act like a physics object.

If you want to do something a little bit more complex and have more than one board holding up a piece of metal, it can be done using a series of logic entities.

I have Xfire, it's listed in my profile.

To check for reasons the props may not be showing up, open hammer and open the properties of the prop you want to look at. Click on browse world model and then click on the info tab. Under that tab, there are check marks in the boxes for the types of props it will work as. If the prop is one of those types already, then load the map in game and see if any errors come up in console and if they do post them for me.

It is also possible that the map isn't being compiled completely due to an error of some type so if the above things fail, paste your compile log here, make sure the box for compile log is checked, and search for errors. To link me to the error log, there should be a link on the page saying link to this list, click on the link and then give me the address so I can take a look at it.

You added a box? I take it the box was a prop. What is the world model of the box and what type of prop did you make it.

Umm... Why?
I have MSN and Xfire already so I don't see a point.
