Well I hope it was you who posted about SP3, I'm not sure I thought you were being facetious because I didn't really tell you how to fix it mostly because I don't know how to. My buddy put the xp cd in then went into CMOS reassigned my c drive then told windows to repair itself. I just had that 600 GB hard drive put in last week and at first I worried that it was a bad HD. But it wasn't that so I was assuming it was the same thing as your problem.
