Author's Readme/Notes:

This is the first public beta release of cp _arnold, i've put a lot of work into the whole mapping process and i hope you'll have at least as much fun playing it as i had making it.

I am well aware of the fact that there might be some bugs here and there, but please don't hesitate to point me to them, i want to make this map as good as it can be and i can only see so many things myself.

please note that i did not know anything about optimizing the map so fps might be bad since everything is in one huge area. Although i tried to fix it the best i could by making use of hints and occluders in the right places. (areaportals weren't an option)

***please make sure r_occlusion is set to 1.***

There still might be some balance issues since this is the first public release i have yet to find out how this map turns out when there are more than 4 players around, so if you experience balancing issues post it here i will try to check here when i have a minute to spare.

This is my first map ever but don't try to lower your standards just because it is my first, i don't mind harsh criticism, just be constructive :p

Enjoy!

Nice map !

My Suggestions for the beta 2 :

Improve the spawn kill of Blu

More Indication for the C on A & B points. And more indication for the B Point on the A point ;)

One other thing I forgot to mention that might help balance out the map is spawn times. Red seemed to spawn a lot faster then blue.

If you want to futz with the timers give blue a starting 'hidden point' and re-index everything. Have that point that isn't drawn and hidden from the HUD give them a respawn time bonus.

Toss me a PM if you want to try tweaking spawn timers I could easily get 24 guys together for play testing to refine it.

Pros: Map looks well done. A lot of nooks amd crannies, plenty of little extra areas as well. A is perfectly fine to me. I'm terrible with pointing out pros, so I'm sure there is more.
Cons: First thing to point out is the BLU left exit to point(s) A & C. You need to block out that "ouside the skybox" look, because it seems the RED team can figure out what is going on in the BLU spawn. I'm not 100% sure, because when I look at maps and assess them, I do it alone (I have no friends :P) The map feels a bit boxy in some places, especially with the buildings at point B. It just feels out of place with the other irregular areas found elsewhere in the map. This map does feel as if it favors the RED team though, especially at C. It would be interesting if one team got 14 engineers and 2 Pyros running around in that area, because it can be tough. Not much that can be done, though. The door near the RED resupply area could help, but they can easily get a Pyro patrolling that area so it doesn't happen.
Improvements: See Cons.
Notes: Looks amazing. I'd love to play it with friends, lol

After running a 24 man play test there were a few issues but I think you can fix them in a future beta.

First it needs a little more optimization, it ran fairly well, but could use a bit more to bump the frame rate up.

Second, I dont know if it was just us but it seemed unbalanced in favor of defenders. We never got beyond capturing the first point. Maybe if we played it more and people had figured out side paths it might have been a bit different.

Other than that, maybe just spruce up the detail a bit more. Great job for a first map, look forward to future revisions.

thanks for all the comments guys, i'm working on the fps issue right now, and i removed the wooden fence at A and placed a stairs, so the attackers have a wide entrance to A, hope that helps

Yes, I do indeed like this map, although i do prefer non-textures, i took a very strong liking to this one though.
Good job, especially since this is your first one.

Pros: Vnice map.
Knowing that its your first map and you didn't knew hammer 4 weeks ago, makes it only more extreme!!

Cons: bit frames drops... but works good enough on my pc.

I won't rate this because i don't have TF2 installed on this computer. But from what i can see on the screenshots it looks like a map Valve could have made, so thats good :D
Can't wait till i get my new pc so i can test this awesome piece of work

Pros: Very nice piece of work, top quality map. Fun to play, people kept voting to extend it. It will be popular. Nice layout - easy to figure out and many ways to access the different CP's.
Cons: None
Improvements: None - it's perfect
Notes: Why is this still beta?
