Author's Readme/Notes

This map is based off TFC's Avanti. Layout and gameplay is pretty much identical. The theme is based off the original.

Avanti -

Objective: Blue team starts as the attacker. Red team starts as the defender. The attacking team starts at the bottom of the hill and must take control of the town by moving uphill and taking control of Command Points sequentially. The defending team simply tries to hold out as long as they can. Once the attackers succeed, teams swap, and play begins again.

Command Points are captured by taking the flag from the previous point and carrying it to the next. When a Command Point is secured, the flag required to capture the next Command Point appears on top of it. For example, the flag needed to capture Command Point 3 will always spawn at Command Point 2.

There is a wall of the Church that can be breached by applying enough damage to it. Stickies will work the best.

Dropped flags return after 15 seconds.

Avanti is my favorite TFC map to date. This honestly pays homage to one of the most enjoyable maps made for TFC. I think the most pressing issue is when a lot of new players to TF2 don't even know what's going on because they have not played the original map. For example, most people do not know that the south-east wall of the church can be destroyed. If you place a sign there or something then it would be easier to see. Great map though.

Im currently taking a breather from TF2 mapping. Ill get back into the swing soon though :) This map is still very playable so Im not rushing things.

only 1 thing that bothers me about that,heavies camping on the dispenser.
the health and ammo packs in main seem to be enough if you need to heal up or get ammo.

These will only be in the red spawn that is not accessible to blue and the blue spawn that isnt accessible to red. There would be no need to camp those areas. They are only being put there as a quick way to refill then take back off into the action if need be.

Because it would encourage players moving backwards instead of forwards and they look silly with the current theme. There arent any real spawn rooms so having them in the middle of a town looks odd. I have however added team dispensers near the spawn exits that cant be destroyed. They will be a test for b2. If I dont like them, Ill certainly remove them.

I like your map! Defanetly the best Avanti TF2 map I've seen so far.

Only suggestions I have is the lamp on the ladder to go from point 1 to 2 (the left after point 2 if your attacking), Could you make that lamp not solid? I can get stuck on it when going up the ladder.

Also in the same area the room under the awning is 16 pixels off the ground and feels too high (from my perspective) could you try 8 pixels high? same with the stair case going up to that area. The general size for stairs is 12 pixels deep by 8 pixels tall (from the last step). Don't know if you can do that in the space of the stair case, but it just feels odd...

But overall its a great map don't see anything except a few more useless details to make it "look" better.

Realistic? Don't you mean more looney toon like. Thats the problem with TF2 cartoon towns look like cartoons.

I'm nota mapper though css and tf2 mapping sites would probably be a good reserve for custom textures. tf2maps.net is the best i know of for tf2

i dont mean to come across as insulting as i like th emap and i dont bother replying to maps i dont like, thats one of the reasons good maps aer marked harder than shit maps as most reviewers dont give the latter any time.

ive run it on my server and it was popular but if you made it as realistic as possible then it would be a lot better

i realise its a beta i would just like to see a modern version of a classic map

I do not care about what you think when it comes to this map not looking like a TF2 desert/industrial same ol same ol theme. I have absolutely NO intentions of changing this theme to something that looks like a stock TF2 map. This is a beta version and has not been tested as much as I would of liked it to be so there might be an issue here orthere. If you find bugs or issues they are welcome.
