2Skyscraper

Near final version. Please contact me if you have a server and are interested in hosting. Thanks Rootbeerz and Teamvipers for hosting beta 2.0.

Beta 3 Changes
-Interiors are filled in much much more. They don't feel empty anymore. A lot of detail work done.
-Added custom textures for detail items.
-Changed main doors into skyscrapers from func_door_rotating to standard func_door because of gameplay issues.
-Fixed sniper battlement areas so snipers can't be way back in building while sniping into courtyard.
-Added a lot of signs and arrows to help new players get around.
-Elevators: added elevator music that plays during use, doors lock when in use so players don't go in elevator shaft and get crushed, added floor indicator lights to let players know when elevators available.
-Basement: added some detail to basement. Still a work in progress.
-Added spectator cameras.
-Optimized. I think I have nodrawed every possible hidden face no mater how small. Set up areaportals, so the courtyard and each building is its own area. Finished hint brushing. Overall a 10-20+ fps gain from beta 2.
-Added details to spawn rooms.
-Improved 3d skybox.

Beta 2 Changes
-Vast improvement to interiors. Made them a lot tighter and more detailed. Much improved lighting.
-Some changes to exterior of skyscrapers. A lot of changes to 3D skybox.
-HDR
-Moved final forward spawn rooms for each side significantly closer to final cap points.

!!As this is a nearly final version looking for some servers to host this in rotation. Please message me if interested in doing so!!

Are you going to finish skyscraper? There's still several exploits possible on that map, mostly engineer related.

Engineers can build under the floor of the elevator.
Engineers can build inside the spawn room in the basements, so even if the basement is no longer a spawn point, the team could still go there by means of teleporter.

Just FYI, otherwise a fun map, if indeed a bit too big. :)


I probably will not finish the map to be honest. I may donate it to community for someone else to finish if they want. Glad you like it though.

Well, i've played this map multiple times on the 24 person server i frequent... and it's too big. You did an excellent job with it, it's detailed and everything, but the map is simply too big. the floors need to be scaled down some, at least for the smaller servers. possibly make 2 versions, one for 32 people and one for 24.

either way, well done. beautiful work (except the basement floor.... very plain!)


Thanks. Yes the size is the common complaint of the map. I feel it is no bigger than cp_well (but hey how pop. is cp_well right?) but nonetheless feedback received. I plan to keep scale as is for final version and then maybe after my next map ideas I have planned will come back and scale it down as suggested. FYI, final will be out by end of April and will have a number of improvements (more detail in basement, doors fixed among other things).

You did an excellent job with it, it's detailed and everything, but the map is simply too big. the floors need to be scaled down some, at least for the smaller servers. possibly make 2 versions, one for 32 people and one for 24.

Thanks its starting to pop up on some random servers now. As for water issue, I have fixed that and some other issues and will be putting out final in a bout 2 weeks.
