Well it IS free in the sense that you can download it for free.

You can't play on online servers unless you install it with a genuine key.

Downloading the torrent and then downloading the latest bungie update for it allows you to play online w/o a cd key. So basically its free.

It's just the MP mode of HALO turned into a stand-alone version. Nothing esle. No mod, no new content.

WRONG.

They added a MOTD, along with the server settings and options which is brought up by pressing F2 (default)

There is also the added ability to see player names about the green triangles (F3 default)

There are also various console commands not available in PC, such as my favorite, "multiplayer_hit_sound_volume" - default is 0.10 - I change it to 1.0 - the maximum.

Another great feature is the ability to use custom user interfaces (UI) - some come with the update check removed, and there is an easy way to remove it on any UI.

This game did not die, lol, 600 servers on PC, 150 on CE
