Please dude use proper HTML linking this is a how to link, link It makes checking things out a lot easier.
My advice is to go out and try this guitar in a shop or one of the versions close to it, now I haven't tired one of these but I want to, this is all through reading it's specs and looking at it's build.

Now onto the guitar:
* Alder body .
* Maple bolt on neck.
* Rosewood Fingerboard.
* 24 Fret / 25.5"" scale / 1 11/16" nut.
* EMG-esque Jackson CVR-2 humbucker, Neck and Bridge.
* Tune-O-Matic string thru Adjustable bridge.
* Through body stringing.
* Chrome hardware: 1 Tone, 1 volume, Pick-up selector.
* 3-way pick-up selector Neck, Neck & Bridge, Bridge.

Okay so what you getting is a starter guitar but with some nice extras you wouldn't normally find on a starter guitar:
-Alder body, alder is probably the cheapest wood used in guitar making it is okay but doesn't have much sustain or tonal quality but it still sounds decent enough, here is where it's best to try the guitar yourself first before buying.
-Through body stringing, will give you more sustain when your playing but if the holes aren't finished properly you can end up with strings breaking more often, this can easily be checked by yourself just running your finger and looking at it, if it's rough use a small file or sand paper to smooth it.
-Jackson CVR-2 humbuckers-Passive EMG, will give you a a real nice rhythmic sound, handles gain well so if your into metallica this is what you want.
-The 24fret neck, will mean you can play more songs and be able to create high toned riffs then with a normal 21fret neck, but the cut seems a bit to shallow and the 24th my be hard to reach dependent on finger length.
-25.5" neck, will allow easy wrap around of the hand and quick movement due to a slim neck.
-Lack of tremolo arm, may limit you but it depends what you like, you can easily replicate a tremolo sound by vibrating the stings, yet it would be hard to 'dive bomb' without a tremolo arm.
-Strap buttons, are non locking and the guitar is neck heavy so it may slip more often.
-The Jack socket is poorly placed, where the guitar will rest when standing.

Yeah it is damn nice for that price range, seems good for metal style and rock crunch distortion. But I advise you try before you buy, the clean maybe real bad or it may just not be the right feel for you.

I agree with what nutter has said.. But I myself don't really like Jackson guitars because of the neck. Something about the shape.. Also, the fretboard is too flat for me.

But still, if you're getting more into guitar then it would be a good starter-ish guitar.

Flat necks are for faster guitars, a jackson is a heavy/shread guitar, so expect the flat fretboard :D

Yes! I play Rhythm myself, and mate that has the best sort of rhythm pick-ups, the neck is slim enough to allow quick and easy movement, also nice to slide on. The flat fret board will make it easier to do bar chords and power chords. It is a rhythm guitar.

You'll find that if you play the same sort of style as those who play Jacksons, the first band that comes to mind is Bullet for my Valentine, then it'll be perfect for lead and rhythm. I play a B.C Rich Mockingbird, and it's a beast for Rhythm and better than my brothers $1600 Fernandes when it comes to lead (faster, more frets etc. not as nice tone though).

Jacksons are very style specific guitars (when I say that, it's a slight over exaduration), and if you're after something more all around I'd suggest an Epiphone Les Paul (not the Special or the Junior).

Well the Jackson is VERY nice. I'd have it! BUT if you do want more of an allrounder guitar, seriously, play some Epiphone Les Pauls at your local shop, and maybe an SG or two. Also, when you're doing this, make sure you've picked the amp you want. If the shop have both the amp and the guitar you want/want to try out, use both together, since that'll be the gear you'll end up uses/having in the end ;)

Yes the fretboards are flatter for "shredder" guitars. But I personally like slightly elliptical fretboards. The neck & fretboard on my ESP Alexi Scythe is fucking perfect.. in my opinion atleast.....

Jackson are some of the best known guitars to buy for bang for the buck (as well as Ibanez). However I would advise you to actually play it before buying. What guitar do you currently have? Does it have single coil or Humbucker pickups? Both sound different. Maple fretboards work great for anything really. All of my guitars have them with the exception of my Stingray bass which is ebony (which I absolutely love).

I think you should read this.
