The Sega Dreamcast was released in November of 1998, and opened more doors for console gaming than any other console ever made. It was the first console to sport a functional hard drive, online capabilities, and numerous advances in graphics and gameplay.

Wikipedia says UK uses PAL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NTSC

I know the difference between NTSC and PAL, it's just that I was pretty sure since the UK likes to hang more to the USA then to Europe (not using the metric system is an example of that), they also use NTSC.

I can't remember where I heard this, so it may not be 100% true, but most UK manufacturers look down on using the NTSC format.

I thought Brits had NTSC.

Nope, Brits have PAL, everyone else has NTSC-U or NTSC-J. NTSC formats don't have a choice of Hz at the game startup, PALs do. If you look at the uberstyle, the blue logo is the PAL logo and the orange logo is the NTSC logo.

Okay, this is wierd, Today I replaced my Dreamcasts RF cable with a OFFICAL still boxed SEGA Dreamcast Scart. I live in the UK so we get the option to use 50hz or 60hz... When I select 60hz, there is a annoying black bar at the right side of the screen going from top to bottom, however the picture is fine.... Anyone know why?

Ah yes, you Brits and your silly PAL format. You have to play at 50Hz or it will fail.

It may be that 60Hz is NTSC and 50Hz is PAL. So stick with 50Hz.

Wth, does your dreamcast have 3 wires in the colors:
yellow,white,red?
if so...then turn off all other stuff(and disconnect the other colored wires) and keep the dreamcast and the TV on...and test!

works for me :S
