About This club is for discussing NVIDIA, NVIDIA products, and NVIDIA related products. How to properly update your video cards drivers 1: Through "Add/Remove Programs" proceed to uninstall the Nvidia Display Driver. 2: Boot up into safe mode and run Driver Cleaner. Select "Nvidia" - Please note that these are seperate to the nforce driver cleaner filters - from the drop down menu (again select 'nVidia WDM' if your card has support and therefore drivers) and click on "Clean". Do the cleaning twice to make sure that everything is cleared out. At this point you may also want to clean the cab files too. To do this click on 'Tools' and then select 'Cab Cleaner', choose 'Driver.cab' and then 'Start'. This is not necessary however. 3: Restart your computer (normally this time) and wait for windows to go through it's stupid auto detection of your hadware before continuing, make sure you click 'cancel' and proceed to install the drivers yourself install your new drivers and restart your computer. - From [H]Forum Clubs of interest

Whelp, got myself my fourth NVIDIA card. It's a BFG NVIDIA GTS 250. I'm liking it so far, it runs 20 degrees cooler than my 8800 GT and that's when the 8800 GT was running the fan at 50% full speed and the GTS 250 not running at all.

Why didn't I go with a GTX? Two reasons:
a. I'm a bit strapped for cash and the GTS 250 was about $130 and pretty well worth it.
b. It's the only card I could find that was better than an 8800 GT which would fit in my case. I think it's actually smaller.

There is only 1000 of them, and technically, it is 2 GTX 285's in one card, pretty awesome.

So guys, I'm being forced into getting a new video card because my 8800 GT's temperature is staying 16 degrees above the usual threshold and it overheats in Oblivion.

Anyone have suggestions? It must fall within this criteria:
- Core Clock: 640 Mhz or better
- Shader Clock: 1800 Mhz or better
- Memory Clock: 940 MHz or better
- Memory Bandwidth: 57.6 GB/sec or better
- FLOPS: 336 GFLOPS or better
- Pixel Fill Rate: 9600 MPixels/sec or better
- Texture Fill Rate: 33600 MTexels/sec or better
- Dimensions: No longer than 9 inches
- Preferably made by ASUS, BFG, or EVGA
- Preferably an NVIDIA
- No more than $290

When I gave it a go I got loads of artifacts lol, but I read on forums that some people did get fps loss, so thats where I got that info from.

Well the only scenario I can see you losing FPS from overclocking is when you overclock too high and the card decides to lock itself into the power saving clocks. I've had that happen before.

But really that's the only way I can see overcocking effecting FPS. Usually if you overclock higher than the card would like you'll see artifacts, BSOD or your screen will turn black and then your computer will restart.

It was more than likely your drivers that messed up. If overclocking goes bad you'll see more than just a drop in FPS.

Not always.... depends on how wrong the overclock is !
